2010 Chowder Cook Off
The Glory Be to Kids Chowder Challenge is a fun competition to highlight the popularity of WNY Chowder.
Ask anyone in the Twin Cities (Tonawanda or North Tonawanda) "Who makes the best chowder?" and you will usually get a different answer from each person you ask. And fairly often you will hear, "I do!!"
The Chowder Challenge is your way to prove once and for all that you do make the "Best Chowder"
Enter with your fire company, enter with your restaurant or social club or enter as an individual! It's time for you to show WNY what you're made of!
If you don't make chowder or heaven forbid ::gasp:: have never had "OUR" chowder, then bring yourself, your family and your friends and come out and see what it's all about. See why local chowder sales sell out an hour into their sales. Enjoy a beautiful Fall day in one of North Tonawanda's best kept secrets... Pine Woods Park. (On the map it's labled Sweeney Park for some reason) Plenty of shelter, plenty of parking and plenty of fun, food and frolicing!!
Help us reach our goal of raising $30k for our 30th year.
Glory Be to Kids would like to extend an invitation to you and your crew to become a part of what we hope will become an amazing WNY tradition!!
The Chowder Challenge will be somewhat like you see on the TV where various individuals or organizations enter the competition and make a big batch of their delicious chowder to be judged. An award will be given out to the best chowder recipe. We will also be selling the chowder to the public in order to raise money for Glory Be to Kids.
In addition to the cook-off, there will be other food vendors, a beer tent, kids' activities, live music and lots of family style fun for everyone. We are hoping to make a big splash onto the festival scene and with the passion that our communities have for chowder, we are confident this could become a WNY tradition for years to come.
